Anthropologist of religion, science, and technology. I rides bikes, make music, take photos, and watch too much Star Trek.

I am an anthropologist of religion and Assistant Professor at McMaster University in the Department of Religious Studies, where I teach courses on topics ranging from cults and conspiracy theories to death and dying, and the occult.

My research examines new religious movements seeking radical-longevity and immortality, and the intersections of science, technology, and religion. I have presented my research at the annual meeting of the American Anthropological Association (AAA), the American Academy of Religion (AAR), and the Society for the Anthropology of Religion (SAR), and have given numerous guest lectures on transhumanism, immortality, conspiracy theories, and the ethics of radical-longevity.

I have written for the Globe and Mail, The Conversation, and the Hamilton Spectator, and has been featured in the NY Post, Coast to Coast AM Radio, and Inverse Magazine. I am also the co-founder and co-editor of the death and dying resource, TalkDeath.com.
